Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I attend?
    Attendance is made by application to the GRC. Since Gordon conferences have a maximum number of attendees the conference chairs will review applicants and inform people if they have been accepted for the conference. Apply to attend
    . Once accepted you will still need to register.

  2. What is different about a Gordon Research Conference?
    A Gordon Research Conference is a working conference. All sessions are plenary and attendees "commit" to attend the entire conference. Conference talks are during the morning and evening hours with afternoons reserved for research related working group activities. This can include preparation of a project proposal for a Visionary Grant application. Publication or disclosure of information relayed at the conference is forbidden as is the use of cameras or video/audio recording devices of conference talks.


  3. Is support available for graduate students, post docs and underrepresented minorities?
    Yes - there is limited support available. To access this you should contact the conference chairs. Conference support.


  4. What is the deadline for applying to this conference?
    Registration deadline is June 12, 2013. Note - registration is NOT the same as application - please see FAQ #1.


  5. Are there poster sessions at the conference? If so, how do I submit a poster?
    Yes! Attendees are encouraged to submit poster proposals to the conference chairs. Poster titles and abstracts must be provided with your online application. Multiple afternoon poster sessions are being scheduled. Prior "Visionary mini-grant" holders are strongly encouraged to submit a poster on their project outcomes.

  6. How do I get to Bryant University?
    GRC, through Academy Express, provides a chartered bus service from the Embassy Suites Boston at Logan Airport in Boston, MA and T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, RI to Bryant University. To use this service, you must reserve a seat on the bus in advance no later than Tuesday July 5, prior to the conference. IMPORTANT: Pre-conference workshop attendees will not have access to GRC bus service for arriving at Bryant U.; travel info will be made available to workshop registrants in due course.

  7. What is the Visionary Grants Program?
    Visionary grants are small "seed" grants that conference attendees may apply for. Applications are due on the last day of the conference and are intended to bring together multi-disciplinary teams who will put forward a research proposal relevant to the aims of this GRC.   8. How do I register for the Pre-Conference Workshops?
    Workshops are available only to registered conference goers. You must first register for the conference and then follow this link to register for the workshop of your choice. Note that the workshops do fill-up so please register ASAP! More information and registration.
